A few specific fixes for mayobrothers.co.uk

Mayo Brothers · Amersham · website rebuild

I rebuild small-business sites in my own time when I can see they are leaving something on the table. I spent ten minutes on mayobrothers.co.uk and three things stood out, all on the parts of the site that should be doing the most work for a shop with this much history and a 4.97-star rating. Three findings below, then a working rebuild you can click through.

Three findings, from ten minutes on the live site

What a Bois Lane institution is currently leaving on the table.

A walk-through of the live mayobrothers.co.uk on 1 June 2026. None of these is a redesign for its own sake, each is a thing the shop already owns that the site is not showing.

01

The site is a Wix template with a footer still reading 2020, so an award-winning shop with a 4.97-star rating reads as a page no one has touched in years.

What I saw
The current mayobrothers.co.uk is a stock Wix layout, and the footer copyright still reads 2020. For a butcher with a 4.97 out of 5 rating across 48 reviews, three weeks of dry-aging on the bone, and a name that runs back to Tom Mayo, the site looks abandoned rather than award-winning. The story and the standard that bring people to Bois Lane are not on the page that meets them first.
In the rebuild
The rebuild leads with the shop itself, a real interior photo, the 4.97 rating, the dry-aged-on-the-bone specialism and the Tom Mayo to Sawyer line, on a current, fast page that reads as the shop it actually is.
02

There is no online ordering or click-and-collect anywhere on the site, so a shop known for dry-aged beef, Christmas turkeys and ready meals cannot take a single order online.

What I saw
Nothing on the live site lets a customer place an order or a pre-order. For a shop that takes Christmas turkey orders, makes ready meals and cuts joints to order, every one of those requests has to happen by phone or in person. The one thing a regular most wants to do between visits, reserve a joint or a dozen sausages for collection, the website does not offer.
In the rebuild
The rebuild adds a clear order and pre-order section with a simple collection request form, so a customer can ask for a cut, a weight and a date and have it ready on Bois Lane, with the phone line kept alongside for anyone who would rather call.
03

The only structured data is a bare Wix LocalBusiness block with a malformed phone number, no opening hours and no rating, so Google cannot read when the shop is open or how well it is rated.

What I saw
The page ships a single minimal LocalBusiness block. It carries the address but the telephone is written as ++44 01494 726357, there are no opening hours, no 4.97 aggregate rating, no founding date and no butcher or Store type. Google is left guessing whether the Bois Lane shop is open on a given day, and the strong review score never reaches the search result.
In the rebuild
The rebuild ships a Store plus FoodEstablishment graph with the full Bois Lane address, the telephone in correct E.164 form, the Tuesday to Saturday opening hours, the 2008 founding, the 4.97 aggregate rating, and a FAQPage built from what customers actually ask at the counter.

The close

If the proposal lands, reply with two or three 20-minute slots in the next ten days for a video call. I take on three builds like this a quarter, and first confirmed wins the slot. If I do not hear back by 11 June, the proposal site comes down.
